ABOUT MUMO

MUMO works with eclectic textiles that have been produced sustainably to create truly modern soft furnishings for a unique living space. International and artisan culture are our main inspiration; exotic destinations and the unique craft and design that can be found there.... Our Launch collection is inspired by the uber chic urban beach culture of Rio de Janeiro. All of the textiles in this launch collection are Brazilian  and form the foundation of our supply chains. All the fabrics are ethically sourced and have unique attributes that add intrinsic value tp the products we make.

Recycled Hake and Salmon Leather

Hand crafted in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, this luxury exotic leather is made from hake fish skins recycled from the food industry. The tanning process uses a non toxic, vegetal tanning agent with all waste water being recycled and the biodegradable residue being composted . Normally chrome is used for this process which is extremely harmful to the environment once disposed of. The result is a hand made ethically produced exotic leather of the highest quality.

Ecological Peace Silk

MUMO sources raw silk from south eastern Brazil which is farmed on pesticide free land and  harvested only after the silk worm has left the cocoon (peace silk). The Yarn is then hand spun and woven into luxurious silks which are dyed with natural  or non toxic synthetic colorants. Traditional weaving techniques are used in the small, family run factory which helps provide an important skill base and income generation  for the people who live in the neighbouring foveae (Brazilian shanty town)

Organic Jute and Recycled canvas

Produced in Sao Paulo Brazil, certified organic jute is woven with recycled cotton from used tarpaulins creating a richly textured sustainable cotton alternative. Coloured canvas is made from recycled plastic bottles as part of a major recycling project in South America.
