MUMO is an interiors brand with a difference. We work with a variety of ethical but eclectic fabrics, and transform them into objects of desire for your home. We are all about giving the internationally aware, design conscious consumer the chance to support 'fair trade' principles by indulging in their love of chic and luxe!

Our collections are inspired by international, exotic destinations and the unique craft and design that can be found there. MUMO's first collection 'Leblon', inspired by Rio de Janeiro's uber-chic urban beach lifestyle, was launched earlier this year at Maison et Objet (Paris) and ICFF (New York) and was first retailed in Harrrods of London. MUMO's launch collection included winning designs from a competition run in conjunction with Chelsea College of Art and judged by Wallpaper Magazine, Heal's and WGSN. MUMO continues to work with up-and-coming new design talent who contribute to our collections each season.

History

MUMO was originally born out of a passion to help protect the Amazonian rainforest and other parts of the world where the land and its people are under threat because of economic and political pressures. When local sources of income in dry up, often this causes the poorest to migrate to favelas in big cities where living conditions, wages and opportunities are substandard at best. Along with the flight of people from the land, so too often follows artisan tradition and culture. We wanted to help counter this by creating and developing supply chains that support, and give value back to the producers of organic, hand crafted and recycled textiles. Originally, MUMO's founder, Kirstin Samuel, worked with Brazilian fashion brands to build such supply chains. In the past MUMO has supplied fabric to and worked with various designers such as Vivienne Westwood, John Rocha, Bora Aksu and Aimee McWilliams.
